How the family's records are handled
This archive exists for the family. Everything below describes how the records of the dead and the details of the living are kept apart, and who is allowed to see what.
The archive holds historical family records — names, dates, places, documents and photographs — together with the accounts of living relatives who join the site. Account details are limited to a name, an email address, and whatever a member chooses to add to their own page.
Public pages show the historical archive. Member pages, the Vault, contributions and the research desk are visible only to relatives whose accounts a keeper has approved. Details about living people are never shown publicly without that person's own consent.
A member controls their own page: what it says, the photograph on it, whether they are open to visiting family, and whether it appears in the family register at all. A page can be emptied or removed on request to a keeper.
The archive is not advertising-supported. Family information is never sold, rented or shared with outside parties, and no tracking is used beyond what is needed to keep the site running and secure.
To correct a record, restrict a document, or close an account, write to the keepers of the archive. Corrections to historical records are reviewed against the sources before they are applied.
